ES-40

Lyrics/Rumble

My life has ground to a halt,
Everything seems to prove it’s my fault,
The hand of fate continues to screw me,
Familiar faces seem to look right through me,
I don’t know if it will ever end,
I don’t know if I can, ever mend,I’m left clinging to an ES-40,
I’m buried in a six-foot bore hole,
I’m clinging to an ES-40,
I’m left behind and I don’t know why,

People pass me in designer clothes,
Shame they can’t buy themselves designer souls,
I’m cast adrift upon the Dead Sea,
My brain is sucked dry by daytime TV,
My lucky friends only pass me by,
My unlucky friends sell all they’ve got, just to buy,

I’m left clinging to an ES-40,
I’m buried in a six-foot bore hole,
I’m clinging to an ES-40,
I’m left behind and I don’t know why,

Sit inside, listen to the strip light,
Staring out into insoluble night,
I scanned the rows I looked in all the papers,
Looks like failure is all I’m made for,
In the kitchen drunk sick and washed up,
What kind of problems will tomorrow throw up?
I can’t tell if it will ever change,
All my goals are right out of range.

Williams, 1997. Released on CD Rumble (2004).
