Hand-Me-Downs (Made Me The Man I Am)

I,
Am so glad,
That Gap Kids,
Did not exist,
In 1976,I,
Have not forgotten,
My Cousin’s Poly-cotton,
My Brother’s Bri-nylon,
How I wished they did not exist,
In 1986,

But now I know what then I could not comprehend,
Now I understand that they made me a better man,

Hand-me-downs made me the man I am,
Hand-me-downs made me the man I am,

I,
Was my own baby,
I wore the clothes that found me,
I could not have been designed,
I made up my own mind,
On mothballs I thrived,

I,
Bided my time,
Had my role refined,
My design was described,
I’d made up my own mind,
By 1996,

I
Honed my plan and I took my stand,
I eschew Matalan, I am Renaissance Man,
In time for 20-0-6,

So now I know what then I could not comprehend,
Now I understand that they made me a better man,

Hand-me-downs made me the man I am,
Hand-me-downs made me the man I am.
